Sylvia Rivera T Shirt
£10.00 / On Sale
This year Bent Fest pays respect to Sylvia Rivera (1952-2002). Sylvia was a veteran of the 1969 Stonewall uprising and a tireless advocate for all those who were marginalised as the “gay rights” movement became more mainstream. She was a founding member of both the Gay Liberation Front & the Gay Activists Alliances. With her close friend Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia co-founded the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR), a group dedicated to helping homeless young queers and trans women of colour. In memory of Sylvia and all the important work she did we are donating £2 from the sale of each t shirt to the Outside Project-as well as a personal donation from the Bent Fest Team. The Outside Project is a homeless/crisis shelter & community centre in response to those within the LGBTIQ+ community who feel endangered, who are homeless, ‘hidden’ homeless & feel that they are on the outside of services due to historical & present prejudice in society & in their homes.
